from THE WORKS OF CHARLES DICKENS, VOLUME III.
NY/BOSTON: Books Inc.; CLEARTYPE EDITION, Hardbound, no
dust jacket as issued. Undated, although this Dickens'
volume mentions 1868 twice, the identical year to the
known London printing of this set, with revisions by
Dickens (one year prior to his passing in 1869).
Fine
interior, unmarked. Age-toned. Good+ cover. Interior
Pages and Binding Fine. Hinges are tight with pristine
block. Two bumps at top of spine which are slight scuffs
but are superficial only, with no fraying. No rips, tears, inscriptions
in the book, and it is not ex-library. No dust
jacket as issued.
The Christmas stories are illustrated by John Leech, PUNCH caricaturist and illustrator, with original woodcuts. Dickens-revised
Edition 1868 following the 1843 original (the stories
were first printed in newspapers as serials). This book is from
THE WORKS OF CHARLES DICKENS VOL. III -- Includes
illustrated author-revised editions of A CHRISTMAS CAROL
- THE CHIMES - THE CRICKET ON THE HEARTH - AMERICAN
NOTES (Complete with its own Table of Contents and dated May, 1868). Deep blue
and light gray covers with banded gilded spine with
alternating deep red and blue panels. Measures
5.0"x7.25". 226 pp.
